Morning
As everyone, we have yuletide music everwhere. In the car, @ home, on the ipod, streaming from the internets, on tv. One of our favs is this one. Hope you enjoy it...
Top o' the morning to ya. . .
Well we want to take a moment to say thank you to the U.S. Government for making it possible for one of us to take a tour of Ireland. We received our tax incentive money today. That takes care of the final piece to our trip.
So we'll be helping the economy- the Irish economy, and the American Airlines economy, along with the tour agency.
Thanks to our government!
Morning,
Just a short note to wish you all a very happy summer solstice. The 'longest' day of the year. The brightest day of the year. The day I have waited for since June 22nd of last year. We wish you all the warmest, brightest, happiest of days. Get out and enjoy it! It comes but once a year.
Morning
just a quick update from me. Been busy, like
that's out of the ordinary. Work, yardwork ( kinda like I could copy
and paste this), and it's been hot. Maggie has been wading through
jell-o, so to speak, with one of her meds. Wears her out, but we're
taking care of that. Being seasonally bipolar, I'm loving this time of
year. It's light 'til after 9 cst, it's hot, and it's always time to
do something. Sleep in the winter. Right now-GO, DO !
Which brings us to the next portion of our blog program. A trip to the farmers market in the mad city on Saturday with Mollie, Bill (it's their car, so they get to go) and Kathy, Mollie's sister. Kathy is coming in from Colorado late Friday evening, just to go to the farmers market. Ok, maybe not. Maybe she is coming to go to the farmers market, and the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Ok, maybe some other stuff too, like seeing her family, which I grasp, but do selectively.
The rest of the weekend is kinda up in the air, so I hope it doesn't blow away. . . ha, sorry. . .
Jan and Mike are headed to Arkansas to see Mike's parents, so that's
out, so I think we'll try to get together with Doug and jam for
awhile. And then there is the ritual of planting the annuals and herbs
and peppers and all the other stuff that isn't perennial. A must do
in the midwest, after the threat of frost is past.
Oh yeah, there's always auto racing to fall asleep to. The Indy 500
and, my personal fav, the Coca Cola 600. No, I don't understand why I
watch either. . .
Time for the 10 minute commute to work. . .
Have a good holiday, and weekend. Oh, don't forget that it is Memorial day, and take a moment to remember why it's memorial day. . .
Bye
You can see by the photo that we enjoyed a festive holiday dinner. Once again we've been embraced by the warmth and hospitality of friends. As I was on the mission of ham retrieval from the roaster in the garage I was hearing the sounds of many voices, laughter and general goings on from several generations going on on the other side of the wall. Conversations, discussions, kids banging on the piano, dinner preparations. It all blended into the perfect harmony of an extended family. And I felt very blessed to be asked to be a part of it. Yes, blessed. Tim and I have thanked our lucky stars that the fates have brought us to be part of a larger network of nice, caring people.
So hope you all had a day that let you bask in the glow of loved ones and shared lives. I know we did.
HI,
no, we haven't fallen off the face, or any other part of the earth. Been a busy week. Yes, we are fine. No, we would rather have warmer weather. Yes, it's time for a holiday. We get two of them this week, sort of.
Good, not great, Friday, and Easter.
But wait, how is the date for Easter arrived at? It's always different.
Well, write this down, it's a bit confusing. . .
Easter is the first Sunday, after the first full moon in spring.
So, it has to be spring, then a full moon, and then finally, Sunday. it's a three pronged setup. Never heard of Easter Wednesday, have we? I think it has something to do with manipulation of the National Ham Board, but that's just a guess. Or maybe the Just Born Co., maker of peeps. . . Here is a link to their site, check it out. More info than you ever thought possible about Peeps.Gotta head for work.
Later. . .
Bye
What do the simple folk do. . . . . . ?
You know, one should never ever say, " You know, I haven't had a cold in years". Cuz in the next couple days the universe will slap you up the side of your stuffy head with a big box of tissues, and laugh. . . .
First Maggie came down with it last weekend, and then 48 hours later, me. I haven't had a cold, no less one this bad, in years. Whew. . .
Anyway, we're getting back slowly into the swing of things. As you all know, the world famous Soiree was last weekend, and we had a ball, as the last posting shows. This week, it was work, sneeze, cough, and more work, 'til Friday evening, when we went to a potluck christmas party @ Merlin and Cindy H's house. All the employees from the store were there. Good folk, good food, and conversation. It's amazing all the different foods that end up @ a potluck. Such variety and they're all just to good to leave alone.
It's what we do here in the midwest. Well, some of the things.
Saturday morning, as always, Maggie had to go in for a couple hours and do stuff. When she got home, we grabbed our guitars and headed off to the Dec. jam @ the grove.
Always a fun time. An interesting variety of different musicians this time. Kinda makes you have to think on your feet, unless you are sitting down. . . . Jan made it. It's always so good to see her. She acts like she is really happy to see us. Such a nice young lady. . .
We could only stay for a couple hours since the Whitney christmas party was later in the evening. We sat with Mary Sue, Charlie, Lisa and Vern. The Quillens were there too.
Food was good, and we had a chance to mingle, talk, and visit. Whoo hoo, no games this year, and there was a DJ who wasn't bad. Unfortnately, we had to leave early, since we went to work @ 6 this morning. Oh well. It's the most wonderful time of the year, you know. . .
Today it's naps after Maggie gets home from playing in the office and @ the counter. Some decorating, and maybe visiting with friends. The slope is getting steeper and more slippery to the holidays. I'll try to stay updated here. Thanks for stopping by, but it's time to get to work around the house.
Later. . . .
It's Christmas time on the highway. . .
everyone has to have one of these for the car. It's a suction cup, stick on, christmas tree for the car. How tacky is that!!? More tacky per mile than should be allowed by the NTSB. . .
Spread the spirit of christmas as you travel.
Now you can be as cranky in the car as you are in the store.
Can't wait to install it. We'll be the envy of all our commuting partners. "Why look @ that Saturn! I wish we had one!"
A spectacular display of decorative lighting . . .
Aren't the holidays great!!!?
